The Burall group has
been around for over a hundred years in the Wisbech area but
its proud history has been tarnished as it has been a victim
of over-capacity in its core markets of printing and
packaging. Burall InfoSmart, with its focus on public-sector
systems, has been the most profitable company in the Burall
group for some time and the break-up of the group gave the
opportunity to follow our own fortunes.
The exit has been
tricky: to negotiate the complexities of the group pension
scheme and its deficit; to find new premises away from the
shared group sites; to extricate our cash from the group
shared banking facility; and to take on the administration
functions which were done at group or site level.
We are happy to
announce, however, that the exit is now complete. We
got all our cash back, we took over administration of the
group pension scheme allowing us to move all employees'
(past and present) final salary pensions to individual
pensions, we took control of all our own administration
functions such as legal, financial & HR and we found
independent suitable premises in Wisbech.
Throughout this time,
production and sales continued and we never lost a single
customer or supplier, due to the hard work and loyalty of
all our staff and partners, personal and professional.
We are now in the happy
position to have fully paid-off the pension deficit
inherited from the group and to have bought out David
Burall's private shares in the company three years ahead of
schedule. So Burall InfoSmart Ltd is now wholly owned by its
founder and Managing Director, Rod Duddin, and we look
forward to expansion and success.

Our new premises
were formally owned by Fenland District Council who were
very helpful in our transition from the Burall Group to full
independence. |
