Now Burall InfoSmart
are independent of the former Burall Group, we are pleased
to announce some significant expansion plans.
We have taken on a
brand new building, on the same industrial estate in Wisbech
as our headquarters. The building has been fitted out
to our specification and requires an independent electricity
transformer station to give us security of supply. The new
premises give us space to install our magnetic ink coating
plant, which was set up at one of the former Burall group
sites, and to house a new Digital Print process.
The Digital Print
investment is to allow us to keep control of the quality of
card body manufacture, especially those with the more exotic
materials, with which our present suppliers have difficulty.
The Digital Print
process also gives us the capability to manufacture
personalised contactless cards at a low price-point which is
beyond the capability of desk-top printers due to their
dependence on expensive consumable ribbons.
Furthermore, the
French-manufactured printing system uses dry toner, which
differs from the HP 'Indigo' wet-ink systems used elsewhere
in the UK and gives us the ability to print on a wide range
of substrates without requiring special coatings or paying a
license fee to HP per page impression.
Due to electro-static
considerations, especially in the laminating process, the
Digital Print line will be housed within a sealed clean-room
area within the new premises and the new line should be
commissioned before the end of this year.
