MOT Computerisation has been installed in over 20,000
garages throughout Great Britain, from the Shetlands to the Scilly Isles
and has been described by PA Consulting as "probably the most complicated,
bespoke business system that government has deployed." [See article

Neil Hargrave, Service Director at Siemens IT Solutions and
Services Ltd says "On behalf of Siemens IT Solutions and Services, Burall
manufactured the smartcard readers currently deployed in the Garages as part of
the VTS [Vehicle Test Station] Device installation. Further to this contract
Burall also manufactures, programs and personalises the smartcards currently in
use by all authorised persons to access these systems.
"The collaboration between Siemens IT Solutions and Services
and Burall started in 2002 when Burall was invited to tender for the development
of the Smartcard Reader and Smartcard production element of the MOT Computerisation
systems. This delivery of the solution is strengthened by their ability to react
proactively to requests for information.

winning both National IT Industry and Government excellence awards in 2007 and
additional awards in later years. Siemens continues to work with Burall in
delivering the MOT Computerisation solution and services."
